Day 5 Software Design Championships & Formal Dinner
last nite was fun. went over to ed n stanley's room to play cards - a game called shit. i lost quite a few rounds n had to drink white wine. wasn't exactly drunk, but couldn't really walk straight, n felt my head swaying... hahaha. then we played the hand game - electric current. everything was real fun coz ed is totally hilarious.
justin got drunk n vincent had to support him back to his room. i tagged along to open their door for them n justin juz totally fell flat on his face on the bed n slept. hahaha. i oso learnt to play the guitar last nite. ed n stan are both really good teachers!
we missed breakfast this morn, only got up ard 11am. went for the software design championship round n short films screening the entire afternoon. the films were good. loved the canadian's one. but some presentations were so BORING, i actually fell asleep. i couldn't believe the german team beat us to the championship. their system is crap n their presentation suck to the core. they were trying to do a CNN thingy. "hi i'm katrina n i'll bring u thru today's presentation. there's rolf who will blah blah. rolf please." "thankew katrina". gosh. LOUSY.
i'm convinced that the finalists were totally politics. but the russian team is seriously THE BEST. there is totally no way we could beat them. their level is SO beyond. their system was to allow musicians who are geographically apart to see each other n play music together. like how is that possible rite? but they could do it! thru video n streamlining the music n tech stuff i cant understand of coz. its totally mind-blowing. n they themselves are musicians, so they had a lil concert demo with the keyboard guy locked away in some backstage room. was damn good. if they do not win, that's the most kelong ever. am rooting for them. they're genuises.
dinner was at this club. lousy food. everything was cold! a singaporean diplomat joined us for dinner n sat next to me. she's rather nice - no airs about her. found out more abt MFA... maybe i shld try out intern there.

Day 4 Rest & Relax
visited a jap garden today. n u know how gardens are... at first - "WAH! so pretty!!!!" then after awhile, everything everywhere looked the same liaoz. there wasn't many flowers, so it wasn't v interesting to me. i still like flowers.
we had lunch in some wooden house in the garden n they had 3 carnival games set up for us to play. proud of myself coz there was this shooting game n outta 3 tries, i hit 2 targets and got 2 prizes. hahahahah! when alot of guys couldn't even get one. the guys ard me were certainly surprised. their "wow" was rather loud when i toppled the hello kitty toy, and even louder when i toppled the donald duck. hahahaha! so funny.
in the afternoon, we went shopping in yokohama city. got a pair of pink havanas slippers at bargain price n a pretty pink funky cheap minnie mouse cap. woohoo! once again, pretty in pink. haha!
as expected, we din get thru to the championship round. oh well. naturally, after all the hard work, im disappointed. but i'm oredi here in japan. =) play time!!!!! let loose the wild side!

Day 3 Yokohama Round
day 2's lightning round went smoothly. but then we stayed up till like 530am to prepare for our yokohama round. was killing man. slept till 11, had lunch n went for 1st presentation. it was terrible. many things went wrong n the judges were super un-nice.
suddenly felt very unwell n giddy after that, so had to take a nap. woke up after 2 hours to start practising again. the 2nd presentation was much much better. but still murphy's law applied n vincent couldn't connect to his server when he was suppose to start demonstration. judges got impatient, but lucky it connected n he managed to show some features. wasted much precious time. that is why altho i'm at an IT competition, n its really cool to know n see all the fantastic stuff IT can do, i still dun trust it.
so judging from the judges responses and our preformance... i really dun think we will advance to the championships. despite all the effort n time we spent on this. we had the most props that were also very BIG. i prefer to be a pessimist n be surprised then to be optimist n to be gravely disappointed.
for now, i'll juz enjoy my time here. we've oredi put in our best shot.

understanding - a virtue with no happy ending?
i've got a high treshold. i'm able to withstand pple who are not very nice or have done wrongs against me before. actually i'm amazed at this ability.
sometimes i think i'm toooo understanding. i see their wrongs, or the postition they're in and am able to understand why they did wat they did. n after sometime, i tend to forgive them or juz forget it. until of coz, they progress from bad to worse, n that is when i label them as idiots/morons/jerks or the like.
i wish pple will not take advantage of my understanding. but humans are evil by nature, or rather, sinful........ so that's unlikely to happen. then maybe i shld stop being understanding.
ps: peter low is an ass.

around this time last yr, i was estatic. i was gg hongkong! it was exciting, my first trip without my parents. a much needed break from the slogging for vivace04. i was so looking fwd to shopping!
but this time this yr, i'm tired, sian n upset. a lacklustre "yay i'm gg japan" is all i can conjure up now. its crazy, but i think if anyone were to offer me a trip to hongkong again, i'll gladly go there instead of japan. at least, there's a shopping paradise to look fwd to. n maybe xavier, patrick n dicky......
for now, japan = stress.

epitome of my hopes for future bliss
i enjoy working at the pushcart. i mean there are the downs lah, eg. the irritating customers (those who try try try n dun buy or those who keep asking for discount or those who are juz plain rude), the scorching sun despite being indoors, juz the crowd that makes things overwhemling, the long standing hours... but its far more interesting than in a normal store upstairs with little people or sales. at least at the pushcart, there's hundreds of people to look at. bugis is damn diverse - angmos, arabs, indian bizman, indonesian taitais, aquas are common. n there are seriously ALOT of pretty girls n beautiful bods walking around. and the tai-tais or even the wannabe fake taitais. its interesting to look at the couples that come in all styles, shapes n sizes. n of coz, the many lil cuddly cute babies and toddlers. =)
today, a family left an impression altho they din buy anything in the end. haha.
the father was pleasant looking and rather fatherly. his 2 girls were running around him with the maid hanging ard behind some dist away. both his kids look like him very much - haha, not very pretty coz he has a big nose. but still very cute coz they are happy kids. always laughing, smiling active and playing. on n off, he would play with the younger girl, abt 3yrs, running towards her as if he's gonna catch her. the older girl (abt 8yrs) was busy checking out the pushcart, she wanted to choose smthg for her mum - lots of scrambling to n fro, this way n that, grabbing her dad to come see, n later picking up the bracelet/ring bringing it to her father.
the mum appeared n the older girl excitedly asked her mum to choose. the father pointed to smthg he tot was nice. the mum started choosing and all with the older girl giving lots of suggestions. to her, everything looked nice on her mum. she particularly liked a puny butterfly necklace n asked her father to let her try it on. i put it on for her n it looked far to adult-y on her. on removing it, her father said, " wat must u say to
auntie?" (!!! AUNTIE!!!! *grrr* when did i become an auntie) she turned round shyly n mouthed thankew.
father put his arm around his wife n said," u like the ring, buy it lohz. its nice." awww... girl
said," papa gonna buy smthg for mama and he gonna qiu2hun1 (propose) again." hahahha. all this while, the little one is not missing in action, she's constantly running ard, knocking into father's legs, and trying to take a peek at watever she can barely see from her height.
they left after awhile. apparently the mother din feel comfortable buying rodium products due to sensitive skin. oh well, doesn't matter much to me, since we've oredi hit our target.
such a loving couple, with a loving family. happy n nice.
in 15 yrs time, i'll prob have my 3kids by then. my figure will prob be gone n i'll prob look like the ideal model for "before" pictures of weight-loss programs. my breasts will sag, my butt not as perk, my face lined with wrinkles......
but if my husband still loves me n still dotes on me like the father i encountered today. n i have
lovely loving kids who are happy n cheerful. i will definitely be living in ultimate bliss. i will be
very happy. truly. truly happy.

Tallie, the cute orange giraffe

hahahah! Meet Tallie! who will be my Yokohama companion. =)
Why the name "tallie"? coz it actually refers to feng. hehe! my ex-bf was a shortie. but feng's a tallie. so my new giraffe pressie, which reminds me of him, will be tallie! hahaha.... darn, i think i sound bimbotic.
mama wasn't impressed by tallie at all. she doesn't like stuff toys. i asked why. she said i must grow up. i wonder whether i'll ever stop liking cute stuff toys or juz cute stuff for that matter.
