titanic
i watched the vcd n wondered why the hell was i sooo captivated, as was most of the world, with the movie? after 10 years since i first watched it, i've realised that things i appreciate in a film is very much different now (thank goodness). sure, there was the gorgeous leo dicap whose talent i still admire till this day but whose beauty has seemed to fade since his gisele relationship. there was the great special effects and details to every single ornament in the ship. there was the clear illustration of social class differences and blatant inequality. it is truly a intricate film that explored many aspects of society in that age. but ultimately, it is an unconditional love story that transcended barriers.
i remember being rather obsessed with the film when i was 13. i even bought a writing pad that had the pic of rose on the plank n jack freezing in the water with the caption "my heart will go on". i remember using this writing pad to write letters to my first unofficial bf who was quite a romantic and bought me the movie's soundtrack. i remember sitting next to my cd player listening to "my heart will go on" on repeat mode. haha, i was so hopeless.
today, that cd is gone - bro lent it to some fren who nv returned it. i got into a fit then of coz, but i cant care less now bcoz i've changed. i'm not a hopeless romantic anymore.
jack's love was beautiful. not many are able to reassure their loved one with such certainty at the verge of death, saying things like she'll die at an old old age in a nice warm bed and have many grandchildren. the promise to live was equally beautiful with rose fighting for her life when she could haf so easily given up, n continuing with life with jack always in the depths of her heart.
love stories are just a source of hope and even fantasy for souls in this imperfect world where love is conditional. that's why i dun watch romance movies in theatres anymore.
the ultimate love story is recorded in the most sold book in the world, and that is wat the world truly needs and has! if it just believes.

wisdom teeth op
extracted both my right side wisdom teeth on thurs morn. the upper one was just a simple extraction while the lower one was a surgery since it was impacted. did it at NDC for $345 which is the subsidized rate since i got a referral from polyclinic first. if not, it would be $900+! but subsidized patients do not have the privilege of choosing their surgeons/doctors. thank goodness me n my mum made a fuss at the counter explaining my previous traumatic experience when i took out my left lower wisdom tooth and swelled for a month (its true!) and managed to get a senior surgeon to do the job.
the anaesthetic injections hurt like hell and i cried. but the nurses there were really nice n kind and one came to hold my hand and kept comforting me. haha, i wonder if they knew i am going 23. the surgery was quite fast. they covered my eyes so i couldn't see wat was gg on. the doc drilled thru my gums n cut my impacted tooth into 3 parts to get them all out. she said she could see my nerve underneath which implied a higher possibility of prolonged numbness after the op. could sorta feel her pulling the thread n tied as she sewed my gums up. the upper tooth was relatively easy. just a pull n it was out.
i bled profusely the whole afternoon. mum was abit slow in cooking the porridge so by the time i had lunch, the painkiller injection wasn't effective anymore. ate abit n quickly took my medications. was SO painful, the tears kept flowing as i swallowed the pills. (- how the hell am i gonna give birth? i'll prob just pass out.) slept thruout the afternoon applying pressure to my right temple coz of the bad headache n woke up abt every hour to change the bloody goss in my mouth.
thank God things became better thereafter n altho my cheek is still swollen, several ulcers have developed, the insides are still painful and i cant eat or open my mouth or laugh properly, its nothing compared to day 1 or my previous awful experience in '02.

i had a bad day
yes i'll definitely consider today as bad.
woke up and discovered a big fat painful pimple on the underside of my thigh. who the heck has pimples on their legs? like OMG, i'm a freak.
went thru a lousy interview in the morn and was later bullied by the authoritative staff nurse at national dental centre in the aft. gosh..... really made me so miserable.
but oh well....... nothing beats some good food in chinatown and thats precisely where i went to gorge myself silly. hahahahaha and even more takeaways for tmr!
on a more serious note, there's so much i'll like to change abt me.

went shopping with yihua at bugis today. it was enjoyable! altho it was only me who kept buying. haha. shopping really lets u take ur mind off things. good food too man! for lunch, i had delicious hokkien mee at bugis market while she had yumyum carrot cake. i totally love good n cheap hawker food albeit the humidity, heat and dirty environment.
we shopped for abt 4hours and below are my star buys. a sweet polka-dot black spagetti bubble dress for $36, red polka dot platforms for $9.95 and silver half inch heels with ribbon detail at the ankles for $15. =) i so enjoy retail therapy.

my last exams in smu wasn't all that memorable i guess. Econometrics was really tough and horrendously difficult, but still cant beat year1's maths for econs. sociology was manageable, just that my memory of definitions failed me. bleah. and lastly, strategy was alrite, with some repeated T/F qns and only 2 essays instead of the expected 4.
wanted to go queue up for donut factory donuts after my strat paper last sat, but there was oredi a long queue of at least 30 pple when it was not even 1130am! WTH rite? scarcity really is a hot thing in sg man.
have a sorta empty feeling since sat. like no direction at all.... there's just this big looming cloud of uncertainty which will probably hang around for the next couple of months. applying for jobs certainly aint any fun, but still, i've gotta persist. really do envy those who hafta serve their bond, they dun need to think or worry abt employment. yet, they think having a choice is way better. haiz, any way, humans rarely are contented.
i've time to spare. - that's definitely not smthg i say regularly. do ask me out for any kinda activity! b4 i turn into a couch potato. haha.
here's an insight to my bf's lame-ness... upon knowing that i and other graduating econs frens were meeting our dean for lunch today, he asked,"so are you gonna have economic rice for lunch?"
for the record, we had sandwiches from tcc, which wasn't too great either.

i just wanna be happy.
who doesn't?
the answer has always been, and will always be Jesus. just that we lose focus too often.
i was reminded once again today. about His uncalled-for sufferings and sacrifice just for my unworthy soul, so that I might live.
everyday, i am trying to understand alittle more about the unfathomable, and believe even more so in His preeminence. I really just wanna finish the race well.
