incompetent fools
sighz, i really do believe in what i'm studying about now - the bystander effect and responsibility diffusion. my grpmates for entrepreneurial mktg has juz totally proven these 2 theories rite.
these theories first came about when a very startling case happened in New York in the '60s. this woman was returning home from work at 3am and walking toward her apartment when a man stabbed her. she screamed for helped and awoke many neighbours who came to their windows. one witness shouted "let that girl alone". the man retreated to across the street, but no one appeared to help the woman. so he again stabbed the woman and even raped her for about half an hour while 38 witnesses looked on from their windows. finally someone called the cops but when they arrived, she was oredi dead.
apparently, with more people around, people are less likely to help as everyone thinks that the other will help and responsibility is diffused among the crowd, causing everyone to become merely a bystander.
this happens in grp work too. i juz cant understand! today was the deadline for our mktg plan, yet nobody cared or even bothered to find out how it was coming along. this was a 8person team btw... i was the only one who edited the report n blahblah, when this is only a pass/fail module for me. at the last hour, i left the final report online n asked the grp leader to submit it but he uploaded the wrong, backdated copy for the prof. like, wat a dumb mistake! i cant believe it. really... if this is the standard of nus, no wonder smu has full employment rates.
but i shall try not to make the fundamental attribution error, n try to give them the benefit of doubt. maybe they are all mugging so hard for exams that they forgot about this mktg plan?
wat the heck, i'm mugging too.

the smu difference
Tuesday was my last offficial school day in nus. at least it ended on a not-too-bad note with my mktg prof praising me. our presentation sucked big time. i mean, as compared to other teams, it juz paled in comparison. maybe it can be seen that none of us really believed in it. maybe bcoz it was so last min. maybe coz it wasn't really even a team effort. oh well.... i did mybest to save it.
i was first to present. personally felt it was a bad job - i blanked out, had blank pauses, fumbled on some words and changed my entire speech. so u can imagine how shock i was when the prof pointed at me n said outright to the entire class that i'm a good presenter. nothing of this sort will ever happen to me in smu. during the break, he even came up to ask me which faculty i was from. hahaha! maybe i'm juz different. =P

jason oon rejected me. oh well, its his own bloody loss rite? haha, big time bleahz =P
anyway, haf been hired by NCS. hahahahhaha, wat's an IT-idiot like me doing in an IT firm rite? =) heez~ dun care lah..... its rather close to home, altho hours are slightly longer, i wont hafta take 45min to get home. anyway, i'll be in the finance dept, doing mainly acctg stuff - tho not my major.... but i believe shouldn't be too big a prob.
hmm....... i'm glad this intern search is over. n i hope my disasterous nus mktg proj presentation tmr will turn out okie. really think that nus standard is far below smu. but thats a whole diff matter, haha.

DisneySea
i realised i have a boring blog. =( so in an attempt to spice up this relatively uninteresting site, i shall post pictures! haha.... but since my cam is spoilt, i can only post old pics, n wat better pix to post than one of my fave places on earth. so today's theme shall be - DISNEYSEA! heehee.... realised i never really shared my jap photos with anyone..... here u go

mermaid lagoon in disneysea, n in my opinion, the most beautiful place on earth. haha! this pic does not actually justify its beauty. u gotta be there to understand =)

on a pufferfish ride in mermaid lagoon. the pufferfish juz goes round n round high above ground, quite fast in fact. everything in mermaid lagoon is juz so adorable.
one of my fave pics. haha, so boliao rite? oh juz in case u dun understand, we're trying to look as if drowning.
venice? nope, juz disneysea

broadway? nope, juz disneysea again. =P
the fiery entrance of the most popular ride in disneysea - Raging Spirits! 360degress turns at high speeds, not for the faint-hearted. cool~~

he said to me, "why dont you cry now?........ you'll feel better n i can be here to comfort you."
no one ever said that to me over the phone. usually, no matter how hard, i try to hold back my tears n control my emotions when on the phone. simple reason: dun wanna make it difficult for the person on the other side of the line - its not v pleasant hearing someone cry.
but its juz so comforting to know that i can be myself when with him. its not everyday one can strip herself of all the layers of paint from her face n still feel accepted.
thank you fengge.
