day4 perth, penguin island
the weather wasn't as killing as yest's when it reached 41degrees celsius (we went shopping at perth city again, basically for the aircon), so we decided to travel down south to take a cruise - penguin n sea lion cruise. mama drove while i navigated with the map n we took slightly more than an hr to get to our destination. so freaking far! haha! almost late, so glad we caught the ferry on time. the ride was super nice bcoz the australian ocean is truly beautiful. very clear blues n greens. really really pretty. it was very sunny n i'm really tanned now, more so a villager than when i came back from thailand, haha, the sunblock didn't really help. but the winds were strong n super nice.
the ferry-driver was v knowledgeable n explained alot abt the diff species of birds n pelicans, their lifestyle, the way they fly etc. he drove ard a couple of smal rock islands where all the seabirds were. then we went to seal island, n we spotted 7 big sealions!! heehee, i was v happy. they're aussie sealions, a rare kind, bcoz they have thick brown fur instead of those kinda leathery skin. n they were juz lying on the beach like lumps of rock, sunning themselves, with seagulls lingering by their side. there was one humongous one in the water with its big head turned towards the sun. i took alot of photos of it. =)
enough of sealions, we arrived at penguin island, walked on the white fine sand n soaked our feet for awhile in the cool sea waters. then we went to witness the penguin feeding in the discovery centre. they were little penguins, smallest of their kind, of a v cute size. they haf their own little pool and are fed one-by-one. they haf names n respond to them, n supposedly wait for their turn to be hand-fed. these penguins are here in the centre mostly bcoz they were in some form of accident or abandoned by their parents n found by pple. such pampered birds! that are fed 3times daily. i'll wanna be abandoned too if i were them.
