great grandmother

(pls ignore my messy hair, the wind on the 24th floor can be quite substantial at times).

this is my great grandmother. can u guess how old she is?? she is a century old. yes, 100 years old this year. cool huh? alot of times, i'm juz in awe in her presence. she's still such an elegant and pretty lady despite her age!

izzant it amazing that she still has black hair? and her eyebrows are still thick! AND she still can walk, of coz she needs her walking stick, but she still can shuffle around the house without it too.she lost her all her teeth quite early on and chose not to put on fake teeth coz it was v uncomfortable. since i can remember, she has been chewing with only her gums. can u seriously imagine that? she is one strong woman man. marrying rich to some business man's son in her teens, coming to sg with her husband - who was some rice merchant. survived WW2 but lost everything. my great grandpa died young and for most part of her life, she was alone, raising all 10 kids by herself, and helping to take care of grandchildren too!

she knows all her great grandchildren by name and asks relevant questions, like "it's my last year of studies rite?" not like other relatives who keep thinking that i'm either year 1 or 2.
i really wish i could communicate with her more, but she talks pure teochew and the only things i can make out are "sheng ti jian kang", "xue yue jing bu" and when she says i pretty.

i juz hope her remaining time here on earth will be less painful. otherwise, i'm not worried, coz she has been saved and the Lord will be there to receive her with open arms when the time comes. =)
