Starry starry night

The Servant King - Kate Miner

From heaven you came, helpless babe,
Entered our world, your glory veiled;
Not to be served but to serve,
And give Your life That we might live.

This is our God, the servant king,
He calls us now to follow Him, to bring our lives
As a daily offering of worship to the Servant King.

There in the garden of tears,
My heavy load He chose to bear;
His heart with sorrow was torn,
'Yet not My will But Yours,' He said.

Come see His hands And His feet,
The scars that speak of sacrifice;
Hands that flung stars Into space
To cruel nails Surrendered
.

So let us learn How to serve,
And in our lives Enthrone Him;
Each other's needs to prefer,
For it is Christ We're serving.

there were many take-aways from this first ever mission trip i went on. this was one of the songs we sang... and it really affected me i guess.

i've always had this special affinity for stars and planets and outer space. i just adore stars. explains why the only book i touched out of the 15 or so books in my Childcraft collection was no.4 - world and outer space. explains why my O level art project was on planets and greek mythology.

i remember being absolutely depressed over smthg way back in my teenage years and sitting out on my swing one lonely nite, sobbing my eyes out. it was one of those cloudy, reddy nites, without a single star in the sky. so i prayed to Him and asked to see a star just so i know that He was listening and He was there with me. and He did! He showed me just one star, and i was comforted beyond words.

We stopped one night on the way back to our resort. it was pitch black as the surroundings was just paddy fields. the sky was lit with SOOO many stars. it was gorgeous. the entire Orion could be seen! this God who created this world, this universe, who knows exactly where he placed all these lovely stars, when they will explode and die, when a shooting star will fall. this same God who came as a helpless babe, to die at the hands of mere human beings. how can you not be in awe of His magnificence and grateful for His sacrifice?
