Little Nyonya

anyone who watched the last episode of Little Nyonya would know wat a "kamcheng" is.

rite after the show, mum excitedly called me to the kitchen, "girl! i wanna show u smthg..." "orh.....," i obediently followed, thinking that she'll be pulling out some of those fancy flowery plates they used in the show which i know we have. but i was wrong. from the insides of the cabinet, she slowly drew out.... yes, u've guessed it. a kamcheng.

i was quite shocked, coz well, its shape bears resemblance to the one in the show, but it still looks kinda strange. and its not such a pretty green one with lots of red and yellow flowers as that of the show's. ours (yes, "ours" - i'm pretty sure it'll be bestowed upon me) is dark blue. hmmmm... even mum expressed doubts of its authenticity. but oh well. it was passed down from my granny, dad's side. surprise surprise? i've got nyonya roots. explains why many have the impression that i'm indonesian chinese.

after we were done fussing with the kamcheng, before placing it back into the cabinet, mum tried to do a jeanette aw i.e. posing sideview with the kamcheng and smiling sweetly. it was so comical can, i nearly died laughing. =)
